Time is passing so quickly. In mid-May, as the days gradually grew warmer, we held a farewell party for Dr. Xu, who spent the past year in our lab, giving us students valuable advice whenever we faced problems in our research.
The party was held at the BBQ restaurant "Rose Garden" which is located a bit away from the downtown area, but its quiet atmosphere and high-quality meat served there made it the perfect place.
In the middle of the party, she told us that her best memories during this year were the trips to Hokkaido and Kyushu, and the strange parties we had in the lab, such as stinky tofu, tonkotsu ramen, spicy hot pot, and more. Near the end of her stay in the lab, she even started suggesting these kinds of parties on her own initiative. Whether fortunately or unfortunately, she seems to have broken through some kind of mysterious, invisible barrier in Japan. I'm delighted.
After that, even our professor quite unusually joined the second party, and it turned out to be a very memorable night.
