Expectations are that this regional consortium, on the basis of common academic cultural backgrounds among member universities, will contribute not only to the development of higher education and research but also to the opening up of a new era leading to cultural economic and social progress in the region.
Activities
AEARU member universities organize workshops, student summer camps, student sports competitions and international symposia, promoting mutual exchanges of ideas and information and developing close bonds between the member universities.

How I hope to go there again!
This summer, I had some special days. I participated in the “AEARU STEM Summer Camp Program 2018”, which was held at Peking University. Campus is so pretty with the giant Weiming lake. The topic I selected was “Compact Data Structures for Big Data”.
I went to many interesting places in Beijing with my new friends, and took many photos with my teacher and classmates from all over the world.
Moreover, the summer camp was a really good chance for me. I learned a lot and became to like English more by communicating with international students. If you have the chance to study in Peking University, I think you’ll love it, too. How I hope to go there again!

Good chance to get to know
I participated in the AEARU summer school in Peking University from July 25 to August 5. I attended the course “Foundations of Artificial Intelligence,” and that was a quite unique and beneficial experience in my campus life. I learned not only about the science of artificial intelligence, but also the life in Beijing, and was impressed by the academic atmosphere and the convenient lifestyle.
The professor was from The University of Texas at Dallas whose research is about the nature language processing, and who speaks both English and Chinese. Also, my classmates were all Chinese. So unfortunately, I didn’t have chance to communicate with students of various nations. But in the meanwhile, I believe the summer school is a really good chance for Japanese students to get to know about China. (Liu Yueyao, Graduate School of Information Sciences)
