Politecnico di Milano’s Vice Rector for International Affairs visits Tohoku University

On January 27, 2026, Professor Ilaria Valente (Vice Rector for International Affairs) and Professor Alessandra Oppio (Delegate for Transnational Education and Strategic Projects) from Italy’s Politecnico di Milano visited Tohoku University and met with Executive Vice President Toshiya Ueki and Professor Daisuke Sano of the Graduate School of Engineering’s International Office.

Vice Rector Valente was one of many high-ranking officials visiting Sendai to participate in the U7+ Alliance Presidential Delegates Meeting held at Tohoku University on January 26 and 27.。

During the meeting, discussions were held on jointly aiming for research outcomes that contribute to society in response to global issues such as climate change, and on promoting joint research in fields in which both universities have strengths. Prof. Sano expressed his expectations for collaboration with Politecnico di Milano in engineering.

It is expected that this visit will further accelerate joint research that makes the best use of both universities’ strengths and also the development of international research networks.
