On September 25, Vice Provost Juan E. González, along with a delegation from the University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas), visited Tohoku University. They were cordially greeted and met by Vice President Masahiro Yamaguchi.

During the meeting, they discussed opportunities for student and faculty exchanges, with a particular focus on collaborative research and personnel exchange programs in the semiconductor field.

Vice Provost González introduced the U.S. government’s initiatives to strengthen investment in the semiconductor sector and UT Dallas’ efforts to foster collaboration between industry and academia.

He also mentioned internship and Optional Practical Training (OPT) opportunities available to international students at UT Dallas.

In addition to exploring the similarities and distinctive programs offered by both universities, they discussed potential collaborations in the fields of animation and engineering. They also discussed potential opportunities for mutual exchange focused on cultural and educational experiences.

After the meeting, the UT Dallas delegation participated in a guided tour of Aobayama campus that was led by student volunteers. They later met with faculty members from the Global Learning Center to share perspectives on student exchange programs and discuss the current state of international students.

With an academic exchange agreement expected to be concluded between the two universities in the near future, it is hoped that further collaborative relations can be built in both research and education.
