The U7+ is an alliance of universities from around the world that was established in 2019. The alliance enables university presidents from the members of the Group of Seven (G7), as well as other countries and regions, to hold direct discussions to help solve common global issues and make recommendations to G7 member countries and other organizations.
Activities
One of the major events held by the U7+ Alliance is its annual Presidential Summit. This summit is held in the same country scheduled to host the Group of Seven (G7) Summit and is attended by the presidents of the alliance’s member universities. U7+ working groups have been formed to focus on and tackle issues such as access to higher education as well as climate change and sustainability. The U7+ also carries out student-centered initiatives. These include in-person events, where students work on solving problems under the guidance of university faculty, and student forums wherein students may participate in various challenges, workshops, and group discussions.
