On September 5, 2017, a delegation from the University of Indonesia (UI), with which Tohoku University maintains a productive university level academic exchange agreement, made a courtesy call to Tohoku University. Tohoku University Associate Executive Vice President Masahiro Yamaguchi discussed matters with the visiting group, which was led by Dr. Arry Yanuar, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy.
Associate EVP Yamaguchi and Dr. Yanuar introduced activities and organization at their respective universities, and with the high proportion of Indonesian students at Tohoku University coming in for special attention, the two parties reconfirmed the structure of study-abroad exchange programs currently available.
Both sides offered many constructive opinions on the further development of academic exchange. As both countries are prone to earthquakes, further exchange opportunities are expected in the fields of medicine and disaster research.
Following their discussions with Associate EVP Yamaguchi, the group visited the Tohoku Medical Megabank Organization and the International Research Institute of Disaster Science.
