President Satomi attends the 2nd Japan-UK Universities Conference for Collaboration in Research and Education

On October 8th, 2015, Tohoku University President Susumu Satomi, Executive Vice President Toshiya Ueki, and Associate Executive Vice President Masahiro Yamaguchi attended the 2nd Japan-UK Universities Conference for Collaboration in Research and Education held at Keio University.

At the conference, the leaders of high-level research universities in both countries met to discuss how to strengthen and improve cooperation between their institutions, following up on the first meeting, which was held at University College London in May of last year.

This second conference was held by Keio University and the British Council, with 16 Japanese institutions and 15 UK institutions in attendance. Also in attendance were representatives from the Japan Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) and the UK Royal Society.

President Satomi took part in a working group on the theme of globalization and strategies for the cultivation of global human resources, as well as representing the university in discussions.
