Tohoku University (TU) and National Taiwan University (NTU) have operated a joint research fund program since Academic Year 2026 to support collaborative research and exchange activities between researchers from both universities. We are pleased to announce the launch of the call for proposals for the 2nd round of the NTU–TU Joint Seed Fund for Academic Year 2027.
If you wish to apply, please review the application guidelines, consult with your partner researcher (PI) at NTU regarding the project proposal, and submit your application to the designated contact address below by the deadline. Please refer to the details below.
Application Period
Monday, September 14, 2026 – Friday, October 30, 2026 (18:00 JST / 17:00 Taiwan Time)
Research Areas
Applications from all fields are welcome, but proposals related to the following fields will be prioritized:
1. Semiconductors
2. Disaster Science
Funding Scale & Value
– Awards: Maximum of 5 projects
– Value: Up to NTD $200,000 (JPY 1,000,000) per project from each respective institution
Funding Period
From Thursday, April 1, 2027 to Friday, March 31, 2028
*Note: Due to differences in the financial years of both universities, this is the support period on the Tohoku University side. The NTU-side support period runs from January 1, 2027 to December 31, 2027.
