McGill University Vice-President for Global Engagement Visits Tohoku University

On January 28, during the U7+ Alliance Presidential Delegates Meeting held in Akiu, the Vice-President (Global Engagement) of Canada’s McGill University, Prof. Anja Geitmann, met with Vice President Mashiro Yamaguchi and Prof. Takahiro Hanyu of the Research Institute of Electrical Communication (RIEC).

VP Geitmann praised the long-standing collaborative relationship in engineering between Prof. Hanyu and McGill University’s Prof. Warren Gross and expressed strong interest in developing jointly supervised programs.

In addition to introducing the university’s strategy as a ‘University for International Research Excellence’, the Tohoku University representatives discussed cooperating with McGill University’s Mila – Quebec AI Institute in the field of AI and promoting exchange through various support programs. Both sides agreed to work towards further strengthening partnerships in research and education.

This visit is expected to serve as an opportunity for both universities to further develop their exchanges and cooperative relationship.
