On January 28, 2026, three representatives from Canada’s University of Alberta visited Tohoku University. The delegation, led by Vice-President (International & Enterprise) David Bressler, participated in a signing ceremony for a Letter of Intent to strengthen cooperation between the universities. The Tohoku University representatives included Executive Vice President and Provost Takafumi Aoki, Vice President Masahiro Yamaguchi, and others.
After the ceremony, discussions between both universities’ representatives took place.
Vice President Yamaguchi warmly thanked the delegation for visiting and expressed his
hope that with their newly signed Letter of Intent, the partnership between the two
institutions would deepen further to promote joint research and student exchanges in
priority research areas such as renewable resource circulation, AI, and robotics. VP Bressler
also expressed his determination to support the further development of collaborations
with Tohoku University.
The Letter of Intent, which emphasizes promoting collaboration, is expected to further
strengthen cooperation between the two universities.
