Nihon Hidankyo, also known as the Japan Confederation of A- and H-Bomb Sufferers Organizations, was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in December 2024.
Dr. Terumi Tanaka, Co-Chairperson of Nihon Hidankyo, had the distinguished opportunity to speak at the Nobel Peace Prize Award Ceremony. In recognition of his lifelong dedication and his contributions as a former faculty member at Tohoku University, the university is proud to present him with the university’s International Award. Alongside the commemorative award ceremony, Dr. Tanaka will deliver a speech titled A Message to the Next Generation: Paving the Way for a Peaceful Future.
Dr. Tanaka will share his personal experience as a survivor of the Nagasaki atomic bombing and speak about the organization’s efforts toward the abolition of nuclear weapons.
