President Teiji Tominaga visits the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay

On December 19, President Teiji Tominaga and his delegation visited the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IITB) and were warmly welcomed by Director Shireesh Kedare. The delegation from Tohoku University included EVP Toshiya Ueki, EVP Hideo Harigae, VP Masahiro Yamaguchi, Prof. Akinori Ito, Dean of the School of Engineering, and Specially Appointed Associate Professor Ankit Ravankar.

The delegation had a meeting with Director Kedare, during which President Tominaga and Director Kedare agreed to launch an initiative to strengthen collaboration between Tohoku University and IITB. The purpose of this initiative is to contribute to solving global challenges together through innovation and cultivation of the next generation of talent. In line with this commitment, they signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to strengthen comprehensive cooperation in research, education, and industry-university collaboration.

The meeting was attended by several deans from various academic divisions at IITB, as well as the chairman, Dr. Sharad Kumar Saraf. Chairman Saraf welcomed the collaboration and expressed that it would leverage the strengths of both institutions.

During their visit to IITB, the delegation had the opportunity to tour the Society for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SINE), which facilitates industry-university collaboration at IITB, as well as the Technology Innovation Hub (TIH) and other facilities.

It is hoped that this visit will become the catalyst to further strengthen the relationship between the two institutions.
