On October 9, a delegation from University College London (UCL), led by its Vice-Provost Geraint Rees, paid a courtesy visit to Tohoku University. They met with President Teiji Tominaga, Executive Vice President Takafumi Aoki, Executive Vice President Toshiya Ueki, and Vice President Masahiro Yamaguchi.
To begin proceedings, President Tominaga expressed his gratitude to Vice-Provost Rees for making the journey to Sendai, and Vice-Provost Rees in turn expressed how happy he was to have the chance to visit Tohoku University for the first time in about eighteen months. Next, President Tominaga and Vice-Provost Rees reflected on the outcomes of the exchanges accomplished thus far through the two universities’ matching funds and similar efforts, and they also discussed prospects for the further deepening of collaborations between the two universities, for instance in medicine and industry-university collaboration.
It is expected that this visit will provide opportunities for the further development of research exchanges and collaborations in a number of fields between Tohoku University and UCL.
