Report of the 1st IATU Webinar: Disasters and Their Mitigation: From Early Warning to Recovery

The Alumni Association of Tohoku University in Indonesia (IATU), with support from the Institute for Community Service and Development (LPkM) of Universitas Bakrie, hosted on Saturday June 29 2024 a webinar entitled: “Disasters and Their Mitigation: From Early Warning to Recovery” (Bencana dan Mitigasinya: Dari Peringatan Dini Hingga Pemulihan), the first of the new series of “IATU Webinar”.

Around 90 participants attended the event

This first IATU Webinar offered participants in-depth and practical insights into different aspects of disasters and their mitigation, fostering constructive and informative discussions. The webinar began with an introduction to IATU by its Chairman, Prof. Ardiansyah and was later opened by the Rector of Universitas Bakrie, Prof. Sofia W. Alisjahbana.

The event was moderated by Eko Prajoko, Ph.D. (IATU Staff Member, Civil Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, Mataram University).

Around 90 participants attended the event, including students, lecturers/researchers, and industry practitioners from various regions of Indonesia. The attendees received relevant and current information and enhancing their understanding of the crucial roles of technology, community, and collaboration in disaster mitigation.

IATU is planning several other webinar of this series on different topics in the near future.
