The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Japan visits Tohoku University

On May 31, the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Japan, H.E. Mr. Heri Akhmadi, visited Tohoku University with a delegation from the Indonesian embassy in Tokyo. Ambassador Heri and the delegation were warmly met by President Teiji Tominaga, Executive Vice President Toshiya Ueki, and Vice President Masahiro Yamaguchi.
At their meeting, President Tominaga spoke about the many Indonesian international students enrolled at Tohoku University, and the impressive engagement and activities of the Tohoku University Alumni Association in Indonesia. He also stated his hope for further development of the close, collaborative relationship between Tohoku University and Indonesia.
Ambassador Heri spoke about his appreciation for the past collaborations between Tohoku University and academic institutions in Indonesia. He then expressed interest in the further strengthening of collaborations in disaster science and other fields.
He also mentioned that Indonesia is actively collaborating with Japanese companies and academic institutions in a variety of fields, such as green energy and infectious diseases. In their discussion, they also exchanged views on the possibility of further exchanges and collaborations in various fields between Tohoku University and Indonesia.
