Tohoku University and UCL Announce Matching Strategic Partner Funds for Academic Year 2024

Tohoku University and University College London (UCL) are contributing matching funds to support research and exchange activities jointly conducted by researchers at both universities beginning next academic year.

In order to qualify for funding consideration, proposals must be in areas of mutual interest that will strengthen the partnership between Tohoku University and UCL, and must include participants from both institutions.

If you wish to apply for this sixth round of funding, please do so through UCL’s online application form by October 6, 2023, after consulting with your colleague(s) from UCL on the content of your application.

Online applications will be processed by researchers at UCL, who will act as the projects’ representatives.

Online Application Period:
From July 21, 2023 (Fri) to October 6, 2022 (Fri)

Research Areas:
Applications from all fields are welcome.
※Priority will be given to proposals from the following fields: Disaster science, Life and Medical Sciences; Population Health; and Brain Sciences, particularly in relation to the Tohoku Medical Megabank Organization (ToMMo), AI and Higher Education.

Funding Period:
From April 1, 2024 (Mon) to March 31, 2025 (Mon)
※However, due to both universities’ financial years being different, the funding periods at each university will differ.
