ABSTRACT:
This event features two scholars who will present the cutting-edge of political science of postwar Japan. Chris Winkler will discuss the rise of a specific lineage of conservatism among intellectuals in postwar Japan. Sebastian Maslow sheds light on how North Korea became a way to create a discourse of state crisis that mandates the revision of Japan’s postwar security institutions. Comments by Ikeda Ryo, professor in political science and international relations.

Chris Winkler is Associate Professor in Political Science at the Seinan Gakuin University.
Sebastian Maslow is Senior Lecturer in International Relations and Political Science in the Department of Global Studies at Sendai Shirayuri Women’s College
