City of Takayama

Takayama is an old city situated in the middle of Japan, where many historical spots are attracting people who are looking for Japanese traditions. After fruitful discussions in the sessions, relaxing - or continuing discussions - with scenery of old traditional houses by walking around the city must be a good experience, as well as visiting countryside of the city to experience traditional hot springs called Oku-hida Onsen-go. It takes around two hours from Nagoya to Takayama by train. Nagoya is the third biggest city in Japan with an international airport and a Shinkansen (bullet train) station. It takes around 1:40 mins from Tokyo and 40-60 mins from Kyoto/Osaka by Shinkansen. See this site to find information on Japanese Railways. The airport, called Chubu International Airport, is served by international flights from various cities in the World and connection flights from Tokyo Narita airport.

Symposium Venue

The symposium will be held in a conference room of Takayama Green Hotel. The hotel is situated in the city centre, where the railway station and many tourist spots are in walking distance. The hotel has both Japanese-style rooms and Western-style rooms; Japanese-style hot springs are also available in the Hotel. You can also choose another hotel in the city for participating in the symposium - there are various choices in the city, ranging from budget rooms to luxury Japanese style hotels.
