"Interdisciplinary Materials Science"

AYH23: 17 January 2012, 13.30-15.00
Electromagnetic meta-materials

The objective of this lecture is to gain fundamental knowledge in electromagnetism of matter and understand historical perspectives of milestone discoveries in meta-material science. Physical basis of the interaction between electromagnetic waves, i.e., light, and meta-materials will be reviewed and discussed. Our recent results of optical meta-materials prepared using proteins and viruses will be introduced. This lecture is conducted in English.
