Flow-accelerated corrosion in complex piping system

A large number of pipe failures in a nuclear power plant occur in a multi-component region such as the bends, the orifices and so on. In specially, it has been reported that flow-accelerated corrosion (FAC) frequently occurs in a multi-elbow. Clarifying the flow structure inducing FAC is important to design nuclear power plants which has high reliability.
We are investigating mechanism of FAC occurring at a multi-elbow by visualizing flow.
