The symposium will be held at
Hotel Taikanso (Matsushima, Sendai)
which is located in front of the splendid Matsushima bay.
The historical town of Matsushima,
about half an hour by train from Sendai,
is considered one of Japan's most scenic views and is known for Zuiganji,
the most important Zen temple of Tohoku region.

- By train:
- From Narita Airport to Tokyo JR (Japan Railway) station:
- Use the Narita Express (NEX) train.
- Tickets can be purchased at the station inside the airport.
- From Tokyo to Sendai:
- Several trains (JR Tohoku Shinkansen)
to Sendai depart every hour from JR Tokyo Station.
- The Hayate-Komachi fast train completes the trip in
1 hour and 45 minutes while the MAX Yamabiko train takes about
2 hours and a half to reach Sendai.
- The cost of a one-way ticket is 10,900 Yen
using either the Hayate-Komachi or MAX Yamabiko.
- Once at JR Sendai Station,
- transfer to JR Senseki line
(a local train) and take a train bound for Ishinomaki.
The train leaves from Platform No.10 of JR Sendai Station
(The Shinkansen platforms are on the forth floor.
Platform No.10 is four floors down, i.e., it is on the basement.

Get off at Matsushima Kaigan Station.
It takes 40 minutes to Matsushima Kaigan Station.
- A shuttle bus (Matsushima loop line bus to Hotel Taikanso)
is available on the square in front of Matsushima Kaigan Station.
It costs 100 yen.
Taxis are also available. It takes only a few minutes from
Matsushima Kaigan Station to Hotel Taikanso by taxi.

It is convenient to buy a regular ticket to the final destination,
Matsushima Kaigan Station.
- By plane:
- Several flights connect Narita and Sendai Airports.
- Once at the Sendai Airport,
- a bus to downtown Sendai is available every hour.
- To reach Matsushima:
go to JR Sendai Station and board the local train of
JR Senseki line to Matsushima Kaigan Station
(see above).

(which is another station in Matsushima) and get off at
Matsushima Kaigan Station. The bus leaves
the depot No.3 in front of the Sendai Airport building.
