Lab Life
About Research
In the first semester of the fourth undergraduate year, students attend a weekly reading seminar and participate in the Engineering Seminar to build foundational knowledge.
Research begins after the graduate entrance exam. Each student sets their own research theme with guidance from faculty and seniors,
and progress is shared monthly in research report meetings.
Seminars & Attendance
Research progress meetings are held about once a month, and seminars occur weekly. The lab values student autonomy, and there is currently no formal attendance tracking.
A typical working time is about 8 hours per day, and many students successfully balance research with extracurricular activities.
Lab Room & Facilities
Room
Each room is equipped with individual desks, as well as a microwave and refrigerator, all of which are available for free use.
As we plan to move to the Electrical Engineering Building 2 on the Aobayama Campus between October and November,
the room image shown is for illustrative purposes.
However, the basic layout is expected to be the same as in the image.

Experiment Room
Once your research begins, you will start building your own experimental setup.
In the laboratory, light sources and measuring instruments are always available,
allowing you to conduct experiments at any time on your own schedule.

Events
Events are optional and held in a casual style. Starting this year, students will take the lead in planning events.

What Is Student Life Like?
Example voices:
- "I usually arrive at 10 AM and leave around 6 PM. I use my free time for assignments or hobbies."
- "We donβt have many drinking parties, but we enjoy casual tea gatherings instead."
Each student has their own rhythm, but the lab supports a balanced and flexible lifestyle.
