In recent years, various types of light have been used in advanced sensing fields such as biosensors and in-vehicle sensors/displays. In biosensors, laser beams are irradiated onto minute biological materials such as proteins, polymers, and DNA, and information is detected from fluorescence and scattering. In automotive sensors/displays, laser beams are irradiated over a wide area in front of the vehicle to detect information from reflections from objects that may collide with the vehicle, and the results are projected in front of the driver. In these fields, it is important to develop more sensitive, accurate, compact, and faster detection technologies. This laboratory aims to contribute to such advanced sensing fields from the standpoint of light source development.
