Personal Log of Takayoshi Ogawa
I am now visiting Department of Mathematics, University of California Santa Barbara
where my host professors Prof. G. Ponce and Prof. T. Sideris are member of the faculty.
I am interested in the solvablity of some kind of dispersive
equations- a kind of partial differential equations (mainly system) -
in the Sobolev space. (c.f. Preprint).
Especially I am trying to get some well-posedness of a coupled
equations describing an interaction phenomena of water waves.
The main tools here are the real and harmonic analytical method with
the traditional functional analytic method.
Another large interest is toward to the Sobolev inequalities between the
critical exponent spaces and relation to partial differential equations.
Please read the related material (Other publications) and give me your impression.
Please contact me if you find a common interest in those objects...
During a week in summer, 1996,
I visited to Yosemite National Park with my friend's friend
and hike some popular trails.
It was wonderful experience to see the Yosemite Valley from
the top of Yosemite fall, Nevada fall, Half Dome and the Glacier Point.
(Picture at Yosemite from Glacier point)
To the top of the half dome, although I have no experience to reach
such a high point by walk, it gave me an incredible view from the top of
1000 feet wall. Amazingly there was no fence at the edge of
the dome and I could view the bottom of the valley....
It was a "super-frightening" view.
Also going down from the top of Half Dome to the foot of there
was too much thrilling. There were two steal wire ropes to keep us going up and
down (the route was 45 degree of angle at the steepest point..)
I almost slipped out from the two steel wires.
( if I did, one position had been opened for younger parson....sorry..)
Besides, there started falling snow when I started to go down,
and finally it started thundering......(considerably scaringly...)
When I reach the foot of the last
highest part, everything was completely covered by snow and
all I could see was just white and white and white....
I almost lost my way back to valley....
It took around 10 hours to go and back....My friend's friend did it in 8 hours
(tough guy!).
The night coming back from the top of Half-Dome, I got a nightmare
to slip out from the trail....
