LN theory -New theory of lymph node metastasis-
2021.03.02 note
Cancer cells invade lymph nodes through afferent lymphatic vessels and grow in marginal sinuses.
This phenomenon is the beginning of lymph node metastasis.
A well-developed network of blood vessels in the lymph nodes anastomose with vessels outside the nodes (most textbooks do not describe this anatomical structure).
Cancer cells growing in the marginal sinus invade these anastomosing blood vessels and metastasize to the body’s distant organs via the bloodstream.
This idea is called the lymph node-mediated hematogenous metastasis theory.
According to this theory, it is necessary to treat the lymph nodes near the primary tumor once it has been identified.
We hope to treat and prevent sentinel lymph nodes and distant metastasis by developing a lymphatic drug delivery system that directly administers drugs to the lymph nodes.
