Other applications of cooling technique with metal porous media
Recently, rapid development of semiconductor technology have enabled
the improvement of performance and the reduction of size in the electronic devices.
While the size of electronic devices is shrinking, there exists at the same time
larger heat generation.
These two trends induce necessity to remove higher heat flux from these electronic devices.
It is predicted that the heat flux from the electronic devices will be over 10MW/m
in near future, and therefore cooling system needs to deal with the super high heat flux
with low temperature difference.
Based on the above background, we are investigating heat removal technique using
narrow-interval-fins and sintered metal porous media. In this case, the fins and
the porous media applied into cross-flow heat removal system.
