This project has the grand goal of “Creation of power and ICT converged network infrastructure technologies that realizes the optimization of an autonomous decentralized cooperative DC microgrid”. With the advancement of ICT, the technologies have reached the level of connecting all people and things in real time, and have evolved until a concrete image of the future society called “Society 5.0” can be drawn. On the other hand, power transmission and distribution systems are supported by the development of renewable energy technology, storage battery technology, and ICT, so that smarter power networks are accelerating. The ICT network operates stably by electric power, and the electric power network operates stably by ICT, therefore, both networks are dependent on each other. After the Great East Japan Earthquake of 2011.3.11, large-scale disasters such as earthquakes, typhoons, floods, etc. occurred frequently in Kumamoto, West Japan, Kansai, Hokkaido, Kanto areas in Japan, and vulnerabilities in ICT and power networks continue to be exposed, such as disruptions in ICT networks and large-scale power outages. As is evident from the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s), we strongly need for action on decarbonization to prevent global warming. Creating a sustainable and resilient social infrastructure that can economically realize the mass introduction of renewable energy has become an urgent social issue. This project aims to solve this social issue through open innovation that brings together the wisdom of industry, academia and government.
