The committee was co-chaired by Mr. Fumio Kishida, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan and Mr. Igor Shuvalov, First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia.<\/p>\n<p>Held in the Russian government\u2019s Guest House, the Japanese delegation included Minister Kishida, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. Mr. Sakane, Senior Advisor at Komatsu Ltd., and representative of the Public-Private Development Council of Japanese-Russian relations and other representatives from economic circles were also in attendance, with the Russian delegation consisting of many leaders in government and industry.<\/p>\n<p>During the conference, President Satomi spoke on the importance of inter-university academic exchanges, especially student exchanges.
