Association of Pacific Rim Universities<\/h6>\n

Established in 1997, APRU is a regional consortium of leading universities along the Pacific Rim. Its members aim to deepen mutual exchanges and to collaborate in education and research activities with respect to issues that are relevant to the region.<\/p>\n

AEARU<\/a><\/h3>\n
Association of East Asian Research Universities<\/h6>\n

AEARU is a regional consortium that was formed in 1996. Its aim is to facilitate exchanges that are based on the common interests of its member universities . Its activities include exchanges between researchers and students, the promotion of joint research, and the organization of workshops across the leading research-oriented universities in East Asia.<\/p>\n

HeKKSaGOn<\/a><\/h3>\n
German-Japanese University Alliance<\/span>:He<\/u>idelberg, K<\/u>yoto, K<\/u>arlsruhe, Tohoku (in S<\/u>enda<\/u>i), G<\/u>\u00f6ttingen, O<\/u>saka \u2013 Network<\/h6>\n

The Japanese-German University Consortium HeKKSaGOn founded in 2010 is a bilateral university network composed of three Japanese and three German major universities with the aim to promote exchange between Japan and Germany through activities such as research staff\/student exchange, joint research, workshops and summer schools. The Japanese member universities are Kyoto University, Tohoku University and Osaka University, and the German member universities are Heidelberg University, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and the University of G\u00f6ttingen.<\/p>\n

MIRAI\u00a0<\/a><\/h3>\n

Launched in 2017, MIRAI is a strategic collaborative project that aims to connect Swedish and Japanese universities through research, education, innovation, and efforts to nurture the next generation. The project tackles global challenges in the areas of health and an ageing population; climate adaptation, disaster and risk management and prevention; resilient cities and communities; as well as materials for energy conversion and storage.<\/p>\n

RENKEI<\/a><\/h3>\n
\u00a0Japan-UK Research and Education Network for Knowledge Economy Initiatives<\/h6>\n

Officially established in 2012, RENKEI is a bilateral consortium of universities in Japan and the UK. Its aim is to build upon the collaborative work of its member universities and strengthen collaborations with industry across the areas of joint research, knowledge transfer, and human resource development . Tohoku University is one of its founding members.<\/p>\n

U7+\u00a0<\/a><\/h3>\n
U7+ Alliance of World Universities<\/h6>\n

The U7+ is an alliance of universities from around the world that was established in 2019. The alliance enables university presidents from the members of the Group of Seven (G7), as well as other countries and regions, to hold direct discussions to help solve common global issues and make recommendations to G7 member countries and other organizations.<\/p>\n

SDG-UP<\/a><\/h3>\n

SDG-UP was established in 2020 to create a platform through which Japanese universities determined to work towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals could collaborate. Through SDG-UP, the United Nations University and Japanese member universities work together to contribute to the sustainable development of Japan and the world, strengthening SDGs-related initiatives and human resource development across higher education as well as stakeholder partnerships.<\/p>\n
