{"id":1469,"date":"2026-11-05T15:13:58","date_gmt":"2026-11-05T06:13:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/web.tohoku.ac.jp\/envchemeng\/?page_id=1469"},"modified":"2026-11-05T15:14:00","modified_gmt":"2026-11-05T06:14:00","slug":"20260916eng","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/web.tohoku.ac.jp\/envchemeng\/en\/20260916eng\/","title":{"rendered":"M2 student Hayakawa and M1 student Abe gave oral presentations at the Environmental Division session of the 57th Autumn Meeting of the Society of Chemical Engineers, Japan!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hayakawa and Abe from the Iizuka Laboratory participated in the 57th Autumn Meeting of the Society of Chemical Engineers, Japan (SCEJ), held from Monday, September 14, to Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at the Higashi-Hiroshima Campus of Hiroshima University.<br>On September 15, they delivered oral presentations within the Environmental Division on the following topics:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Fundamental Study on Carbonate Mineralization Technology for Concrete-based Waste Using Seawater&#8221; \u2013 Hiroki Hayakawa*, Xingrong He*, Atsushi Iizuka* (<em>Graduate School of Environmental Studies, Tohoku University)<br>&#8220;Effect of Cement Hydration Progress on Calcium Extraction Behavior and Changes in Cement Hydrate Phases During the Extraction Process&#8221; \u2013 Kuuya Abe<\/em>, Hiroki Hayakawa*, Xingrong He*, Atsushi Iizuka*, Seiichi Hoshino** (*Graduate School of Environmental Studies, Tohoku University; **Taiheiyo Cement Corporation)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The three-day event was highly productive, featuring lively discussions, numerous presentations on related research, and exposure to a wide variety of topics outside our usual scope of study.<br>Comments from the presenters are as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hayakawa:<br>As this was my final conference participation during my master\u2019s program, I am truly grateful for the opportunity to deliver an oral presentation at such a large-scale event.<br>I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Professor Iizuka, Dr. He, and Shibrele-san for their guidance and advice throughout the preparation process.<br>Although this was my first time attending an SCEJ meeting, I found it incredibly educational to listen to research presentations across a broad range of fields\u2014not limited solely to CO\u2082-related topics.<br>Furthermore, I was encouraged by the large number of attendees who visited our presentation, which gave me a clear sense of the high level of interest in our research.<br>Participating in this conference provided me with a wealth of inspiration and new knowledge. Once again, thank you very much for this invaluable opportunity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Abe:<br>I was given the opportunity to deliver an oral presentation\u2014the first of its kind in my life. It really got me pumped to give it my all here in Hiroshima! (Abe)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It sounds like they had a great time in Hiroshima and really enjoyed the food\u2014I\u2019m quite envious!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Incidentally, Abe-kun\u2014who clearly excels at being a supportive junior\u2014proudly reported that he never once had to take out his wallet during their meals!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s wonderful to hear that the academic conference was such a fruitful experience for them.
