About Sendai

Sendai is the largest city in the northeastern portion of the Main Island of Japanese. It is the prefectural capital of Miyagi prefecture, and has a population of 1.07 million. Whereas Sendai is a very modern city, it is surrounded by and filled with beautiful greens as its nickname, City of Trees, implies. There are several famous places for sightseeing such as Matsushima (one of 'Three Views of Japan) and Hiraizumi (world heritage) near Sendai.
