生命現象のような「柔らかいシステム」の物理学や工学に興味を持つ人を歓迎します．本研究室では，物理学を駆使して生命現象を解き明かすとともに，その過程で新規の物理現象を発見し物理学を発展させることを目指しています．さらに，生命現象から学んだ知識を，人工ナノマシンの実現や遺伝子工学技術の発展に応用しています．また，情報熱力学や生命の情報処理に関しても，精力的に研究を進めています．
